Baker & Taylor Increases Online Sales with Retail E-Commerce site

Baker & Taylor is a global information and entertainment services company that offers books, videos, music, games, as well as services, to libraries, educational institutions and retailers. Baker & Taylor chose Vialogix to create an entirely new retail e-commerce interface for the company.

The goal was to create a consumer-friendly user interface that can be levereaged for Baker & Taylor clients who wish to sell books, movies, music and games. The private-label solution was designed from the ground up based on retail e-commerce best practices. Online retailers must enable intuitive browse, search, cart and checkout for today’s consumer. Vialogix did comparative reviews of large national e-commerce solutions and developed the flexible design storefront to allow Baker & Taylor customers to merchandise a lot of material while keeping the technology behind the scenes. We created the editorial space for Baker & Taylor’s customers to show Editors Picks, packaged groups, and seasonal or cross-promotional items that have relevance on many screens. We designed a “Power Browse” feature which allows consumers to effectively see the whole catalog of books, movies, music and games from one screen. The sites started rolling out in late 2006.
