National Gypsum Co., Vialogix Launch Redesigned Internet Site
CHARLOTTE, NC – March 19, 2001 – Following in-depth planning, research, design and technical development, National Gypsum Co. and Vialogix recently launched the revamped National Gypsum web site.

For its new site, National Gypsum sought to enhance and rearrange its extensive content to meet the needs of the company’s target audience.
This resulted in user-focused architecture that differed from the previous site, which required users to fit themselves into categories before getting any information, according to Vialogix Chief Information Architect Bryan Skelton.
After detailed study, which included surveying 100 architects, the Vialogix team developed a site that allows easy access to product information as well as technical documents and drawings needed for the specification and use of gypsum wallboard and related products.
“Now users can get right to the information they need, rather than first figuring out which group they might belong to or guessing what area the desired info might be in,” Skelton said. “Information is grouped more naturally according to user tasks.”
Given the tight deadlines faced by most of the site’s target audience, predominantly architects and contractors, Vialogix tailored the design for a clean, easy-to-read and fast-loading site, Skelton added.

Charlotte-based National Gypsum Co. is the second largest manufacturer of gypsum wallboard and related building products in the U.S. The privately held firm operates more than 40 facilities throughout North America.
